New co-operation agreement between the University of Iceland and the Icelandic Intellectual Property Office will increase education on intellectual property rights for students and staff of the university.

According to statistics gathered by the ISIPO, trademark applications in Iceland increased by almost 7% in 2021. However, the number of Icelandic patent applications dropped by 23%. 


Regulation on Patents No. 477/2012 has from 31 January 2022 been revised with Regulation No. 224/2022 (for now, only available in Icelandic). The changes were published on 25 February 2022.
