Published today, the ISIPO‘s Annual Report 2020 reviews an eventful year for our office which featured important amendments to Iceland's trademark legislation and changes in our operations due to the COVID-19 pandemic.


Today the Icelandic Intellectual Property Office celebrates its 30th anniversary. On the 1st of July 1991 the office, then the Icelandic Patent Office, opened its doors for the first time in Reykjavík.


The ISIPO participated in the Icelandic Innovation Week that took place for the second time from 26 May till 2 June.

Innovation Cooperation

 A revised strategic policy of the ISIPO took effect on the 1st of May along with a new organisational chart.


The number of trademark applications of Icelandic entities increased by 34% in the first quarter of 2021 compared to the same period in 2020. The total number of trademark applications increased by 7% in the same period according to new statistics published by the ISIPO.
