Representatives of the organisations behind the Icelandic Innovation Forum and the Icelandic Innovation Award visited the company Hefring Marine this week. The company received the Icelandic Innovation Award 2025 earlier this winter.

The award and forum are organised jointly by the Icelandic Intellectual Property Office (ISIPO), the Kría Innovation Fund, Business Iceland, and The Icelandic Centre for Research, and representatives of all four organisations attended the visit to Hefring Marine. Karl Birgir Björnsson and Björn Jónsson, two of the company's founders, gave the group a warm welcome and spoke about the company's operations, current position, and future vision.

The visit was thoroughly enjoyable, and it is clear that Hefring Marine's continued development and growth will be well worth watching.

The Nordic Innovation Award 2026

As the holder of the Icelandic Innovation Award, Hefring Marine will represent Iceland at the Nordic Innovation Award 2026. The award will be presented in Oslo on 21 May, with each of the Nordic countries nominating one innovative company. A jury composed of the Directors General of the intellectual property offices of Iceland, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, and Finland, along with representatives of the innovation community in each country, will select the winning company.
