Novelty Search

Novelty searches can be used in a wide range of connections:

  • As a clarification of whether an invention is new.
  • For evaluating invention disclosures.
  • As a basis for a well-founded patent application.

Freedom to operate searches can be used:

  • For mapping out a technical field.
  • As inspiration prior to the commencement of a new development project.
  • As information about who is operating within a given field.
  • As a basis for assessing the potential opportunities and risks for new activities in an area.

Validity searches can be used:

  • To discover prior art that can be used when filing for an opposition/post-grant review or in litigation.
  • To have an in-depth search of your own patent before a transaction or an infringement claim.

Clearance searches are used:

  • For identifying whether your product or product idea violates already existing rights.
  • For cost savings - preventing unnecessary investments in production and marketing.
  • As inspiration for modifying your product and thereby preventing violation of existing rights.
