Applications and invoices
Invoices appear in the applicant's online bank (Icelandic ID number required) or the agent's bank. The invoice is from Ríkissjóðsinnheimtur. Please note that the final due date for all invoices is 30 days from the time that the request is filed, except for design applications, which is 7 days. An application is not processed until application fees are paid. Unpaid applications are cancelled along with the invoice. Invoices can be found on www.island.is.
Warning about false payment requests
The Icelandic Intellectual Property Office has received indications that Icelandic applicants have received messages from foreign parties requesting payment for the registration of trademarks in foreign databases. The Icelandic Intellectual Property Office has no connection with these parties and asks its clients not to pay the requested fees as their sole purpose seems to be to deceive the applicants.
The Icelandic Intellectual Property Office charges fees under the provisions of a regulation that is set on the basis of the Industrial Property Rights Act and other equivalent service charges. The current fees are in accordance with the regulation on fees for patents, trademarks, designs etc. no 60/2020 which entered into force on 1 May 2020. The government charging scheme TBR is used to prepare invoices.
